How to Root Android Gingerbread Phone

If you don't know the full capability of an Android phone which can be obtained by rooting, this article will enlighten you. Rooting can be considered the jailbreak process of an Android phone (unlike iOS in an Apple product such as an iPhone). This guide will show you how to root your Android device.

Steps:-

Get the apps. Download the following apps and software: RootMaster for your PC and SuperSU for your Android phone.

Install. After you have downloaded these apps and software, install them on the required device.

Enable debugging. Open the settings of your Android phone and enable the debugging mode.

Connect to your PC. After you have successfully enabled debugging mode, connect your Android phone to your PC using a USB cable.

Open RootMaster. Run RootMaster, which you installed on your PC. When you open it, you will see an interface as shown in the image. Click on root.

Wait until restart. After your device has been successfully rooted, it will be restarted to confirm that rooting was successful.

Use SuperSU. You can now see an extra app which is super user access, you can replace it with SuperSU for English interface.

Method 2: Using SuperSU

Steps:-

Launch the SuperSU app. If you haven't installed a custom recovery image, you should be able to use the SuperSU app on your device to unroot.

Tap the "Settings" tab.

Scroll down to the "Cleanup" section.

Tap "Full unroot".

Read the confirmation prompt and then tap "Continue".

Reboot your device once SuperSU closes.

• For most devices, this will perform the unroot. Some custom firmware images will automatically re-root the device when booting, rendering this process ineffective.

Use an Unroot app if this method fails. The Universal unroot app, available on the Play Store, can unroot a lot of different Android devices. It costs $0.99, but can be very helpful. This app will not work for Samsung devices (see the next section).

Method 1: Manually Unrooting

Steps:-

Open a root file manager on your device. There are lots of different file managers available on the Play Store that you can use to browse your Android device's root files. Popular file managers include Root Browser, ES File Explorer, and X-Plore File Manager.

Find and press /system/bin/.

Find and delete the file named su. You can press and hold on the file and then select "Delete" from the menu that appears. There may not be a su file here depending on how you rooted your device.

Press /system/xbin/.

Delete the su file here as well.

Find and press /system/app/.

Delete the Superuser.apk file.

Reboot your device.

• The above method should unroot your device after you reboot. You can verify if you are unrooted by downloading and running the Root Checker app from the Play Store.

How to Unroot Android

Three Methods:

• Manually Unrooting
• Using SuperSU
• Unrooting Samsung Galaxy Devices

Rooting your device can give you a lot more control over it, but it also will usually void your warranty and make repairs a hassle. Luckily, you can quickly unroot most devices with a few simple steps. Things are a little trickier for Samsung Galaxy devices, but with the right tools it will still only take a few minutes.

Method 3: Unrooting Samsung Galaxy Devices

Steps:-

Download the stock firmware for your device. In order to unroot your Galaxy device, you'll need the stock firmware for your device and carrier. There are various places that you can find this firmware online. Use a search engine and search for your Galaxy model and carrier, along with the phrase "stock firmware". Unzip the firmware after downloading it to find the .tar.md5 file.

• Note: This method will not reset your KNOX counter, which is a way for Samsung to tell if your device has been rooted or modified. It's currently possible to root without tripping the KNOX counter, but if you rooted your device using the older methods there is no way to reset the counter.

Download and install Odin3. This is an Android developer tool that will allow you to push your stock firmware from your computer to your Android device. You can find the installation files at Odin's XDA thread here.

Download and install the Samsung drivers. If you haven't connected your device to your computer before, you'll need to install the Samsung USB drivers. The quickest way to do this is to download the drivers from Samsung [herehttp://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117]. Download the ZIP file, double-click it to open it, and then extract the installer. Run the installer to install the drivers.

Power your device down. You'll need to reboot it in a special mode.

Hold the Volume Down, Home, and Power buttons. This will boot the device in Download mode. Connect it to your computer via USB.

Launch Odin3. You should see a green box on the left side of the "ID:COM" section. If you don't see this, your Samsung USB drivers are not properly installed.

Click the .PDA button in Odin3. Browse for the .tar.md5 stock firmware file that you downloaded.

Check the "PDA" and "Auto Reboot" boxes. Make sure all of the other boxes are unchecked.

Click the .Start button to begin the unroot process. This may take about 5-10 minutes. When the process is complete, you'll see "PASS!" in the top box in Odin3. Your Galaxy should boot into the normal TouchWiz operating system.

Perform a factory reset to fix a boot loop. If your phone gets stuck in an infinite boot loop after unlocking, you'll need to perform a factory reset. This will delete everything on the device.^[4]

• Press and hold the Power button to shut off the device.
• Press and hold Volume Up, Home, and Power to boot into the Recovery menu.
• Use the Volume buttons to select "wipe data/factory reset" and press the Power button to select it.
• Select "wipe data partition" and then "reboot system now". Your Galaxy will reboot and wipe all of the data, returning it to factory settings.

How to Root an Android Device Without a PC Using Framaroot

Part 1 of 2: Rooting Your Android

Open a web browser on your Android device. You can use your device’s native browser app or other third-party applications likes Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, or Dolphin browser.

Download an app called Framaroot. Framaroot is a stand-alone application that roots your Android device without having to use a PC. You can download the latest version of this app straight from Framaroot’s website (http://framaroot.net/).

Install Framaroot. Tap the downloaded APK to install it on your device.

• If your device’s not set to install third-party applications, a prompt will appear asking confirmation to install Framaroot. Simply enable the “Unknown Sources” option on the prompt to continue.

Select an exploit to use on your phone or tablet. Framaroot will require you to choose from three kinds of exploits that will root your phone, namely, “Sam,” “Frodo,” and “Aragorn.” You can select any of the three exploits listed. Just tap each one and find out which one is working.

• Some exploits will not work on your device depending on the make, model, and version of Android OS it’s running on. When this happens, a message prompt will appear on the screen telling you that the exploit “failed.” Just select another one from the three until you find one that will work.
• After choosing a working exploit, a message will appear notifying you that the exploit is successful and superuser settings have been installed on your device, which means that you have rooted your phone or tablet.

Restart your device to apply the updates. Press and hold the Power button of your newly rooted Android device to reboot it.

Part 2 of 2: Checking if Rooting Was Successful

Launch Google Play. Tap on Google Play’s icon your home screen or app drawer to open it.
