Nokia Lumia 610C and 610 Accelerometer Sensor Problem Solution

If your Nokia Lumia 610 or Lumia 610C Accelerometer sensor is not working properly solution is this article can be helpful to you. In Nokia Lumia 610C Accelerometer problem does not usually occur.
Let me start by explaining what an Accelerometer Sensor is, it used by smartphones to calculate to movement of your mobile phone. Like when you use Nokia Maps or any other Maps app on your mobile phone and while driving your phones shows on which speed you are traveling. That information if provided to the Nokia Lumia 610C by it’s built in Accelerometer. If you want to learn more here is a Wikipedia article on Accelerometer.
There is a very slim chance your Nokia Lumia 610C Accelerometer is damaged so the first step you need to take is check if the specific app you are using or even the Firmware of your Nokia Lumia 610 is not causing this problem. To check you need to activate diagnostics App in your mobile phone. If you don’t know how to activate diagnostic app in your mobile phone read this post How to Test and Diagnose Problems in Nokia Lumia 610C.
After opening Diagnostics App go to Accelerometer test option. Here you can see the values of X, Y and Z direction movements. You can not change any option here because it is not necessary. You will see a Ball in the middle of the screen which gives you the indicator. Move your phone in air, tilt it and simply wave it backward and forward. If you see the Ball in the middle of the screen move with the movement of your phone then the Accelerometer Sensor of your Nokia Lumia 610C is functioning and you don’t need to open your phone up, just install the latest available Flash File of your phone and hopefully your phone will start working again.

Here is a Flowchart explaining the same procedure I mentioned above. If the Accelerometer does not work in the Diagnostic test then replace the Accelerometer with a new one. Nokia Lumia 610 and Lumia 610C Accelerometer Sensor is also marked in the flowchart.

Ambient Light Sensor in Nokia Lumia 610 or Lumia 610C is used to detect light around your mobile phones to make necessary adjustments to the brightness. When you activate Auto Brightness feature in your mobile phone the brightness gets low when you are in a dark area and it gets high when you are outside. This information is provided to your mobile phone by Ambient Light Sensor or ALS for short.
The proximity sensor is used when you receive a phone call and pressing the phones next to your ear the screen gets dark to save battery. To start repairing first you need to check if Software is not causing this issue. To check that your need to activate Diagnostics App in your Nokia Lumia 610C. If you don’t know how read this guide How to Test and Diagnose Problems in Nokia Lumia 610C.
After opening Diagnostics app open up ALS Test. Here you will see a grey scale rectangle in the middle of the screen and a light intensity value. Cover the Proximity window on your phone to see the if the Rectangle changes colors and The Light Intensity in mLux is changed. If the ALS is working there then you need to flash your phone. If not than you need to change your Nokia Lumia 610 ALS sensor with a new one.
